Over at Swinnow Grange Mills in Bramley there’s always something creative happening. From thought-provoking exhibitions to hands-on workshops, it’s got a powerhouse of artists behind it making the Mill the home for their practice.

The Mill Gallery & Studios (formerly The Other Studios) approached us as they were taking the next step in marketing and showing off what the workspaces have to offer. One of the few affordable homes for creatives in the city, they were keen to show off the breadth of talent under their roof
Rather than typical headshots, we photographed their residents at work in their own studios. People in the heart of creativity behind the desks, easels, workbenches and sketchpads that makes a community – all snapped in our documentary-style approach.

Circle Take Films works out of the Mill Gallery too, which makes this more than a job for the building we happen to rent from, it’s evidence we’re embedded in the community we’re photographing. The one gap in the set: when you’re usually the one behind the camera, there’s nobody left to point it at you.
